Prof. Dr. Friedhelm Hartenstein

The Institute of Old Testament Studies II focuses on research and teaching of the history of the Hebrew Bible as literature and the history of culture in the ancient Near East, particularly the history of ancient Near Eastern law – a focus unique in Germany. The Institute cooperates with corresponding chairs in Israel and the United States and has elevated Munich to the status of an international center in this field.
